Hello, my dear friend! π€π
I just wanted to let you know how much I value our friendship. πΈπ
You are like a beautiful flower πΌπΊπ· in my life, adding colour πand joy π₯³ to each day. π€π¨π
Thank you for being there for me during the winter π¨οΈ, spring π·, summer βοΈ, and fall π. You truly are a friend for all seasons. βοΈπΈβοΈπ
Let's spread kindness like a garden full of beautiful flowers! π»πΉ
Please pass this βοΈ message βοΈ on to 3 π―ββοΈ special friends π―ββοΈ who brighten up your world! πππ¬π« If you don't, you will turn into a bitter gourd ππ₯ and no one will want to be your friend. π’ Send it to people now! My neighbour's eggplant πππ also turned into a worm πππ because he ignored it! π±
[ If Nico checks his mailbox, he'll find a small package addressed to him that contains a purple knitted scarf. There's also a letter with tidy handwriting: ]
To Nico,
I saw this scarf on sale and thought you might have some use for it. The colour suits you too, in my opinion.
If you're not comfortable with accepting this gift, that is fine with me too. No hard feelings.
[ Skylark, yesterday: "Huh, maybe the ritual is just that or something will happen later." Skylark, later that night:
He sure walked right into that one, alright. When he made the offering, he told himself to temper his expectations, and he'd be fine whether or not there was a response (despite also admitting it might feel worse to end up missing his mom more).
It went exactly like how he thought it might if it worked; he saw her again in his sleep. A picnic at the beach, with the sun shining above and the sea sparkling under its radiance. She looked exactly as she did before her health took a turn for the worse as if those months didn't happen.
(Like his past year and a half or so didn't happen, really. Not a scar in sight.)
So he should have known that, predictably, he'd wake up in the morning feeling worse than he did the night before. Also predictably, he spent an extra half hour in his room instead of being up to make breakfast like usual, because he couldn't help crying. He's gotten good at keeping his voice down at least, which is a small mercy he's grateful for since he'd feel worse (x2) if Nico heard him.
Inevitably though, Skylark has to leave his room to get to the bathroom and wash up to make himself look presentable. There's only so much his sleeve can do for that. He knows that Nico is probably awake (because gods know how much sleep he manages to catch), so he just has to pray he makes it there unnoticed so he won't have to explain himself. Surely if he's fast enough he can dodge even the guy who just showed up in the shadows of this apartment one day. ]

Where are you right now? And how's are you doing with the whole touching requirement?
[ How does he broach "hey I think I really need a handhold because I frankly feel like crap right now"... ]
